How We Began

Independence Energy Company was founded in 2008. With ever rising fuel prices and the growing uncertainity in the realm of energy, we sought technology and a processing program for the production of Biodiesel that benefits the individual as well as the planet. We believe you can be energy independent and environmentally sensitive at a reasonable cost.

The technology we have built upon was invented by Mark and Cheryl Haas. Mark has a background in engineering and machine fabrication; Cheryl's background is in organic chemistry. They have combined their expertise and coupled it with a unique insight into the growing alternative energy market to invent the basic BD76™ Biodiesel processing unit. This unit is the technological foundation of Independence Energy. President Phil Machen has refined and redesigned the Haas creation into the finest grassroots Biodiesel processing unit on the market.

Phil Machen studied engineering at Old Dominion University in Virginia. He has been innovating ideas and products in the chemical business for over 25 years. As the years have gone by, Phil has gotten involved with the production and distribution of alternative energy sources. He currently operates BioBlends, a chemical company dedicated to servicing alternative energy markets, and Independence Energy, a company specializing in the sales and service of biodiesel production units.

Adrian Lanser graduated from the Notre Dame Law School and has practiced law in Louisiana and Georgia for 25 years. During his tenure as an attorney Adrian served as General Counsel and Vice President of a manufacturing and chemical blending business in the paving industry. He has also owned or co-owned several diversified businesses including a marketing company, a real estate development company and a food service franchisor. He is now Vice President of Independence Energy.
